Eminem’s Chrysler commercial wins an Emmy award
It seems that everything Eminem touches turns to gold, and the Detroit rapper’s midas touch continued, as the television commercial that he featured in for the Chrysler 200 scooped an Emmy Award…
The commercial, which premiered in the US during Super Bowl, was titled ‘Born Of Fire’, and was set in Em’s hometown of Detroit. The advert showed the rapper cruising round Detroit in a Chrysler while his hit, ‘Lose Yourself’, played in the background. Detroit is also known as ‘The Motor City’, due to it being famous for car production, and that coupled with Eminem’s appearance in the commercial impressed the Academy Of Television Arts And Sciences enough for them to award the Emmy to Wieden + Kennedy, the Portland and New York-based advertising agency that dreamt up the commercial. Aaron Allen, a creative director from Wielden + Kennedy, couldn’t hide his surprise or delight upon hearing the news that his company had scooped the Emmy: “We were very surprised. We really wanted to win, but wondered if humour would win instead.”
